adidas BW Army Trainer Set for Return in April 2025

adidas is bringing back one of its classic models, the BW Army Trainer, this spring. Originally created in the 1970s for the West German army, this iconic sneaker is returning for an in-line retro release, following the success of last year’s limited-edition Hartcopy collaboration.

The BW Army Trainer was initially designed as a low-top sneaker with indoor soccer features, combining durable leather uppers with robust tooling. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the disbandment of the West German army, these sneakers were left in storage and eventually sold off to the public. This led to the BW Army becoming a cult favorite among sneaker collectors, and now, adidas is bringing it back to retail.

The collaboration with Hartcopy last year served as a precursor to the full return of this classic. For Spring 2025, adidas will release two premium leather versions of the BW Army Trainer, each featuring a suede toe cap and leather sock liners, similar to the original design. One pair will come in an all-black colorway with gum soles, while the other will feature a white base with the same gum sole.

Release Information:

  • Model: adidas BW Army Trainer
  • Color Options: Black/Gum & White/Gum
  • Release Date: April 1st, 2025 (Foot District)
  • Price: $150

The adidas BW Army Trainer will first drop on April 1st, 2025, at Foot District, with a broader release expected soon after. Both colorways are priced at $150. Stay tuned for more details as the release date approaches.
