However, in 1994, Nike and Jordan took things further by introducing the player-exclusive sneaker, a custom design given to select athletes. The Air Jordan 9 was the first model to be part of this initiative, with only a handful of NBA players receiving these exclusive pairs. This trend has continued, especially among schools sponsored by Nike and Jordan.
In recent years, Jordan Brand has expanded its support to a variety of college programs, providing not just uniforms but also custom gear for basketball, football, and baseball teams. As part of this collaboration, athletes often receive custom PEs in their school’s colors, featuring unique details that make each pair special. The latest addition to this collection is the Air Jordan 4 PE designed for the San Diego State Aztecs.
This particular PE features the Aztecs’ bold black and red color scheme, although the red is noticeably absent from the main design. Instead, the shoe’s upper is primarily made of sleek black nubuck leather, with textured brown leather accents along the toe mudguards and tongues. Metallic Gold Jumpman branding adorns the tongue and heel, alongside a custom SDSU-branded lace dubrae and a matching hangtag. A red interior tongue patch adds the finishing touch to this limited-edition sneaker.
