The Vans Half-Cab is turning 30 in 2022, and to mark the occasion, Vans is releasing a special limited-edition version of this iconic skate shoe. The new Vans Skate Half Cab ’92 features subtle updates to the original design, offering a fresh take on the classic while staying true to its roots.
First introduced in 1992, the Half Cab was the second signature shoe of legendary pro skater Steve Caballero. Initially, skaters were modifying the Full Cab by cutting off the ankle portion to enhance flexibility for performing flip tricks. Caballero recognized this and worked with Vans to create a new version that better suited skaters’ needs, leading to the birth of the Half Cab. Over the years, it has become a cornerstone in Vans’ skate lineup. The updated ‘92 Anniversary edition features minor design tweaks, including the separation of the toe cap and ollie patch layers, giving the shoe a more modern look. This release is available in two colorways: “Dress Blues” and “Taupe,” both with black tongues and inner linings.
