Nike and Kobe Bryant have long had a special connection with the Chinese basketball community, and this year, the brand is honoring that relationship with a special edition of the Kobe 4 Protro. Set to drop this Summer, the “CHBL” colorway celebrates the Chinese High School Basketball League (CHBL).
Kobe Bryant’s influence on basketball in China cannot be overstated. His incredible on-court achievements, along with his Mamba Mentality and popular footwear, made him a revered figure in the country. Nike’s partnership with Kobe has helped make his sneakers a staple in the Chinese market. Kobe often visited China to lead camps and engage with fans, further cementing his status as a basketball icon. This Summer, Nike will pay tribute to that legacy with a limited release honoring youth basketball in China.
The “CHBL” edition of the Kobe 4 Protro is designed with a vibrant gradient yellow colorway. The forefoot is highlighted in a bold Lightning yellow, gradually fading into a softer yellow towards the heel. Black Swooshes and Kobe’s signature appear on both shoes, while Dusty Cactus blue laces add a unique touch to the design.
The Nike Kobe 4 Protro “CHBL” will launch in Summer 2025, though an exact release date has yet to be confirmed. The bold yellow colorway will likely be available through Nike and select retailers, priced at $190.
