As part of adidas’ prestigious Consortium program, which allows select retail partners to design exclusive releases, Taiwanese retailer INVINCIBLE is bringing a luxurious twist to the classic adidas Handball Spezial. Known for pushing boundaries, INVINCIBLE is back with a fresh take on this iconic silhouette, blending high-end materials with a minimalist design.
The Consortium program has been a key player in adidas’ strategy for creating unique, limited-edition sneakers. While the program has experienced various levels of activity over the years, it gained significant attention during the late 2010s, especially with the rise of the Boost technology. The program saw a resurgence last year with the Consortium Cup, a fan voting contest that allowed sneakerheads to have a say in the brand’s next releases.
For this new project, INVINCIBLE has chosen the Handball Spezial as their canvas. The updated design features a clean white leather upper, replacing the traditional Three Stripes with perforations to subtly display the adidas branding. The shoe’s panels have been redesigned with raw, unfinished edges, giving the impression of a hand-cut, deconstructed look. Suede accents on the toe and heel areas add a touch of luxury, while gold foil INVINCIBLE branding on the heel finishes off the understated, yet elegant, design.
